Merakou Kyriakoula

Mrs Kyriakoula Merakou is professor of Health Education and Promotion. Her studies include BA in Social and Political Sciences at Panteio University, MSc in Health Services Management at the National School of Public Health, PhD in Health Promotion at Medical School of the University of Athens and Diploma in Education at the Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Studies, in Greece. She teaches the course Health Education and Promotion at the Postgraduate Programs and streams of Public Health of the Dept of Public Health Policy (ex National School of Public Health) of the University of West Attica, while for several years has taught the relative course at the postgraduate program of Preschool teachers at the University of Athens and at the graduate program of the Higher Technological Institute of Athens (Department of Public Health). She has a great number of publications in international and Greek journals, has participated as an author in books and other health promotion material as well as has coordinated Greek and European research and education programs in health education and promotion issues. Also she has participated as a speaker and instructor in a lot of mainly Greek congresses and seminars. Her academic and research interests focus in: methods of health education and promotion, health promotion in schools, health promotion in aged people, health promotion interventions’ planning, quality of life, positive health and wellbeing.
