Eleni Patsoula is Associate Professor of Public Health Parasitology, Entomology and Tropical diseases, in the Department of Public Health Policy, School of Public Health, University of West Attica.
Dr. Patsoula is the Head of the Malaria Reference Center in Greece and Scientific Responsible of the Units of Surveillance of Parasitic and Tropical Diseases and of Medical Entomology that belong to the Laboratory for Surveillance of Infectious Diseases.
She is the moderator and instructor of the following modules: Public Health Medical Parasitology, Medical Entomology, Travel and Tropical Medicine and Laboratory diagnosis of parasitic diseases and arthropods of public health importance in the Msc course in Public Health.
Over the last few years, she has published more than 30 original research scientific papers in international peer-review journals, more than 60 presentations in national and international scientific conferences with reviewers. She is participating and coordinating research projects in the areas of laboratory diagnosis of blood and tissue parasites, conventional and molecular identification of arthropods of medical importance, detection of pathogens in vectors of parasitic/viral diseases, laboratory surveillance of tropical diseases, especially malaria, in collaboration with research institutes, universities and public health organization and bodies in Greece and Europe.
She is member of Greek and international scientific societies. Also she is an elected member of scientific and administrative committees representing the Department of Public Health Policy.
