Professor in Public Health Microbiology, Department of Public Health Policy (former NSPH), School of Public Health, University of West Attica and Head of the National Meningitis Reference Center.
Graduate from the University of London in Medical Microbiology, holds a PhD from the Medical School of the University of Edinburgh (Department of Microbiology). Her post-graduate education includes a wide range training in Public Health Microbiology and molecular microbiology at Universities of Oxford & Edinburgh (UK), Wurzburg (Germany) and Public Health Institutes such as the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the European Center for Infectious Diseases (ECDC).
The results of her research activities are presented in more than 90 scientific publications of high impact factor (IF) international journals, with over 2000 citations and h-index (SCI) of 24. She has participated with more than 200 scientific presentations in Greek and international conferences, with 7 research awards.
Her academic work includes teaching in the area of Public Health Microbiology at undergraduate and postgraduate level both at National and European level. National Contact Point at the European Center of Disease Control and (ECDC) for Meningococcal Disease, Main Supervisor of the two-year European Postgraduate Program in Public Health Microbiology (EUPHEM) / ECDC, member of four Scientific Societies / Fora and member of the Management Board (Scientific Secretary at European Society for Meningococcal Disease (EMGM), European Public Health Microbiology Society (EWGPHM), President and Vice-President ECDC / EUPHEM Forum).
Accredited reviewer of research programs of the European Commission, and the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).
Member of the Editorial Board in two international scientific journals and invited expert from the private sector on the field of her expertise.
